FAMILIES from across the county will converge on the Kent Showground at Detling next Sunday, June 15, for a day of fun, entertainment – and mess.
The event is the charity fun day, which is run by Rotary clubs of Kent and East Sussex every two years.
One of the highlights will be the World Custard Pie Championships, with teams and TV crews expected from around the world.
Other attractions include a Spitfire display, an appearance by Bob the Builder, the Kent Welly–Throwing Championships, a free–fall parachute team and the national skipping championships.
There will also be dog teams, steam engines, train rides, a fun fair, birds of prey and children’s entertainers.
The whole event is being supported by Kent Messenger Group newspapers and kmfm radio.
The main charities to benefit from the fun day are the Kent and Sussex Air Ambulance, Demelza House children’s hospice at Sittingbourne and Ellenor Hospice at Home at Dartford.
World Custard Pie Championships spokesman Martin Cox said: “Reuters TV channel is attending the event and is televising the event for countries all over the world, including Japan."
The cost of entering a team of four is £40.
