Legendary metal band Onslaught vow to wake up Margate with their powerful sounds this summer.
They will be heading back from a German festival when they call in at the West Coast bar in King Street on Saturday, August 16.
Formed in 1982 by guitarist Nige Rockett and drummer Steve Grice, Onslaught began life under the influence of the second generation of hard-core punk bands like Discharge, G.B.H, The Exploited and the more metallic Motorhead.
Well received albums, Power From Hell and The Force, led many to believe they would end the American domination of the metal scene, and with vocalist Sy Keeler at the forefront, Onslaught toured with Motorhead, made a legendary appearance at the first Dynamo Festival and played shows with Anthrax and Nuclear Assault.
ISOS, released in 1989 was the band’s biggest seller to date and contained blistering thrashers including Lightning War, Powerplay and the epic Welcome To Dying.
The band has recently signed a worldwide deal with the impressive Candlelight label and they worked at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, with long-time friend Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Arch Enemy, Exodus) at the production/mixing helm to record their fourth studio album, Killing Peace, which is currently on general release.
Main support for the night are local metal band Panic Cell who have just come back from a USA tour supporting Canadian all-female rockers Kitty.
Show promoter Steve DIY said: "If you missed these guys the last time they played the West Coast, you missed out on an awesome gig."
Opening the night are newly-formed thrash metal band, Isolation. Tickets are £8, from streetvoiceuk@yahoo.co.uk or by phoning 07530795612. Doors open at 7pm.
