KENT Police are trying to trace the driver of a turquoise Metro who may have been involved in an incident on the Thanet Way.
Officers say a Vauxhall Tigra skidded off the road and burst into flames just before the Chestfield tunnel at around 7.25pm on Saturday, February 4.
Police spokesman Mike Ivatt said: "Witnesses allege that the Metro, which may have had writing or graphics on the side, was seen being driven dangerously prior to the incident.
"The Tigra rolled onto its roof. The driver escaped seconds before the car burst into flames.
"He escaped without serious injuries but was taken the Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother hospital in Thanet for checks."
It is thought that the suspect vehicle may be from the Thanet or Swale area.
The Thanet Way was closed coast bound for around 30 minuets after the incident.
Anyone who can assist police is asked to contact PC Nicholas Mayo by calling the Chief of Staff on 01227 762055.
