Gallant knights and fair maidens will roam Rochester Castle Gardens at Medieval Merriment.
The grounds will become an encampment from the Middle Ages, with knighthood re-enactments, archery and cooking demonstrations.
New for this year is the medieval fashion show and there will also be the chance to meet the King in the castle keep.
Kent drama group United Players will perform four short plays, beginning with traditional medieval French comedy the Washtub Farce before moving on to Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, with the Miller’s Tale, the Pardoner’s Tale and the Wife of Bath’s Tale.
Medway Council’s Cllr Howard Doe said: “We’re very pleased to add a touch of open-air theatre to this year’s event, along with plenty of other attractions to keep visitors of all ages entertained. It’s also a great way for younger children to have fun while they learn about this important period in our history”.
Admission free from 11am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, September 1 and 2. Call 0870 333 1181. Entry into the keep is £5.60 for adults and £3.60 for children.
