Gillingham midfielder Adam Miller is heading back to Priestfield after Dagenham decided against offering him an extended stay.
Miller spent two months on loan with the promotion-chasing League 2 side but Daggers boss John Still admits he hasn’t the funds to keep him.
Still told the Dagenham website: “Gillingham didn’t want a fee for Adam but his pay structure there was much higher than what we have here.
“Adam has done wonderfully for us in his time at Daggers, but somewhat like Matt Lockwood before him, we just couldn’t keep him.”
Miller left the Gills for his loan stint at Dagenham insisting that he didn’t want to return after struggling to get into manager Mark Stimson’s first team plans.
Dagenham have instead decided to offer former Gills midfielder Danny Spiller a deal until the end of the season.
