Midfielder Danny Spiller signs new Gillingham contract until the summer of 2012

Gillingham midfielder Danny Spiller put pen to paper on a new 18-month contract on Thursday afternoon.

Spiller, who only rejoined the Gills in the summer, was widely expected to agree a new contract with the club. But ongoing talks were finally concluded with the midfielder agreeing to stay at Priestfield on a new 18-month deal.

His previous six-month contract was due to expire before this Saturday's home match with Stevenage.

Spiller, pictured, has made 20 appearances for the Gills this season after rejoining the club where he made his name. He left to join Millwall but after spells at Wycombe, Welling and Dagenham he has since returned to Priestfield where he has thirved under the leadership of manager Andy Hessenthaler.
