Darren Smith netted a last minute winner for Folkestone Invicta in the derby clash against Maidstone United.
The 3-2 win for Invicta on Wednesday night saw them leapfrog the Stones and take fourth place in the Ryman League, Division 1 South table.
For Jay Saunders’ Maidstone it was their second last-minute defeat in four days.
The Stones had taken the lead at the Buzzlines Stadium through Shaun Welford with 26 minutes gone, but Stuart King scored the first of his two goals on the night, to level things up 10 minutes later.
His first came from the penalty spot after Josh Burchell went down in the box.
King’s second put Invicta ahead midway through the second half but was denied a hat-trick when Daren Hawkes, on loan from Gillingham, saved a second penalty. From the resulting goalmouth scramble Invicta appeals that the ball had crossed the line were waved away.
After striking the woodwork and seeing a shot scrambled off the line it was Welford who slotted home his second to level the scores with a minute remaining.
With 90 minutes gone Smith (pictured) fired in a long-range effort over Hawkes to take all three points and lift Invicta two places above the Stones.
On Tuesday night Faversham Town ended their three-game winless run in Ryman League, Division 1 South by beating Walton Causals 1-0 at Salters Lane.
The game was played in difficult conditions, which contributed to the Lilywhites’ winning goal on 57 minutes. Dave Botterill’s cross was caught by the swirling wind and the ball dropped at the feet of Danny Hockton, who finished coolly.
Town conceded a penalty when goalkeeper Rob French brought down William Adou, but Danny Fernandez fired his spot-kick against the post and the hosts held on to win.
A seven-goal thriller went the way of Thamesmead Town in Ryman League, Division 1 North as they won 4-3 at home to Waltham Forest.
Chuck Duru and Theo Fairweather-Johnson fired the hosts into a 2-0 lead but Jack Hopkins was sent off for handling on the goal line and Forest converted the penalty.
After Fairweather-Johnson had doubled his tally to restore Thamesmead’s two-goal lead, Waltham squared the game at 3-3 but Joseph Afusi pounced to grab a late winner.
In the Kent Senior Cup, Tonbridge Angels beat Sittingbourne 3-1 at Longmead to set up a quarter-final tie with local rivals Dartford.
Goals from Ade Olorunda and Mikel Suarez put the Angels two up before Josh West pulled one back for the Brickies. However, Frannie Collin struck 15 minutes from time to send Tonbridge through.
Ramsgate crashed out of the Alan Boon Cup, losing 5-1 at East Thurrock United, while a waterlogged pitch forced the postponement of Margate’s trip to Bury Town in the Ryman League, Premier Division.
