Folkestone Invicta boosted their Ryman League Division 1 South hopes, and dented those of rivals Maidstone United, after a convincing 3-0 win at Bourne Park on Wednesday night.
Invicta took the lead after just 12 minutes on Wednesday when prolific striker Stuart King - back from a hamstring injury - was sent through one-on-one by James Everitt and beat Stones keeper John Whitehouse for his 22nd goal in 21 starts.
The second goal arrived on 24 minutes when a Folkestone corner was only half-cleared by the Maidstone defence and former Stone Roland Edge volleyed into the net, with King in close attendance, for his first goal in four-and-a-half years.
The clincher arrived on 65 minutes when defender Liam Dickson launched a solo run from half-way which ended with him beating Whitehouse for his first goal since netting against the Stones in the Kent Senior Cup two years ago.
Stones now sit fifth, 14 points behind leaders Bognor Regis Town, and having played two more games than most of the sides around them after their fourth-straight Kent derby defeat and seventh of the season.
Sixth-placed Worthing are two points back, with two games in hand and a better goal difference, while seventh-placed Godalming are a further point behind but also have two games in hand.
Invicta jumped to fourth, a point ahead of Maidstone with two games in hand.
Sittingbourne earned a much needed point in the Ryman League Division 1 South derby at Hythe Town on Tuesday night to end a run of six straight away defeats.
The Brickies had conceded 16 goals in their last four away games but new keeper Adam Woodhead saved a Brendon Cass penalty and also superbly blocked the follow-up during a goalless first half to keep the home side from taking the lead at Reachfields.
The impressive Joe Nwoko then gave the visitors the lead against the run of play four minutes into the second half with a fine strike, however the hosts hit back to level shortly after the hour mark through Gary Mickelborough.
The Brickies goal led a charmed life late-on with Woodhead and a good defensive display keeping Town at bay and Bourne had a late flurry of corners in stoppage-time as they sought an unlikely win.
The draw means Bourne caretaker boss Marc Seager ended his three-game spell at the helm with one defeat and two draws, with Bourne now 13 points clear of relegation-threatened Whitehawk.
The point however damaged Hythe's promotion push as they missed the chance to move within eight points of the play-off places, with two games in hand, remaining 10th.
Margate secured their first win in nine game with a goal three minutes from time to beat Harrow Borough in Ryman League Premier Division on Tuesday.
Having ended a run of six-straight defeats with back-to-back draws, Tommy Murphy struck late-on to earn the points with his second goal for the club and move Gate within 10 points of the play-off places.
Dan Stubbs had earlier rattled the bar with a half-volley and Matt Bodkin had fired narrowly wide when well-placed.
