Sittingbourne went down 2-0 at home to Worthing in Ryman League Division 1 South on Tuesday night.
Kick-off was delayed until 8.19pm due to the Rebels being delayed en route to the game by an accident but it was the hosts who opened the scoring when Jamie Brotherton found the net shortly before half-time.
John Lansdale's free-kick 15 minutes from time doubled the advantage and ensured the visitors moved up to the play-off places while the Brickies remain 14th.
Thamesmead Town came from behind to secure a dramatic 4-4 draw at home to Waltham Abbey in Division 1 North.
Lea Dawson headed the hosts ahead but the visitors levelled from a free-kick on 26 minutes, only for Chuck Duru to restore Mead's advantage soon after.
Dawson converted a low cross from Hopkins to make it 3-1 before the break but after the interval Abbey midfielder Steve Cawley grabbed a hat-trick to turn the game on its head with goals on 51, 55 and 67 minutes.
Dawson was not to be outdone however and recorded his own treble with a flick three minutes from time to keep Mead ninth in the table.
