TV PRESENTER Chris Tarrant visited the Phoenix Centre in Bromley as it celebrated its official launch as a designated, specialist family and children centre for youngsters with additional needs and disabilities.
Chris, a long time supporter of the Phoenix centre and patron of the Friends of the Phoenix also launched a fundraising appeal for its new sensory garden, work on which will begin in the summer.
The Mayor of Bromley, Cllr Pauline Tunnicliffe, opened the centre’s new extension as part of the celebrations.
The new development is a joint initiative between Bromley Primary Care Trust and Bromley council and part-funded by a grant from the Strategic Health Authority.
The additional accommodation provides more space to the child and adolescent mental health service team who provide support for children and young people with mental health difficulties and their families in Bromley.
It also provides much needed new facilities for pre-school aged children who have additional needs and disabilities and the teams who work with them.
Beckenham Rotary Club presented head teacher Helen Norris with a plaque commemorating five years of fundraising for the centre.
