POLICE in Germany say they are pleased with the response to a TV appeal about the disappearance of Broadstairs nurse Louise Kerton.
A Crimewatch-style reconstruction was shown on primetime German television last weekend. It is 17 months since the 24-year-old vanished after staying at her fiancé’s home near Aachen. She had been due to catch a train to Ostend to return home, but never arrived.
Police recently raided the home of her fiancé Peter Simon and his mother and found a camera belonging to the missing woman.
When the film was developed none of her family and friends could identify the people in the photographs.
The photographs were shown on the TV programme in the hope German viewers could identify them. Several sightings were reported in Germany and Belgium in the weeks after Louise went missing, but none were ever confirmed.
No-one else answering her description has ever come forward. A spokesman for Aachen Police said: “We had a good response to the appeal, and over 100 people phoned with information. We have some new leads that we are investigating, but I am not prepared to reveal what they are yet.”
