London bus found on moon?

Probably not, but a pair of lovely ladies from the Daily Sport were found in Lydd when a newsagent was presented with £250.

The Daily Sport, once famous for its ludicrous headlines and still a purveyor of puns to make your eyes water, has been running a competition with newsagents to see which news merchant could do the best promotion.

Mittells in the High Street was the winner, and so it was that a touch of glamour was brought to the Marsh.

Newsagent Sue Niblett said: “We had to put all sorts of posters up and display it all properly. It still sells well here and there is an outage at the power station this week so all the workers are coming into buy it. It’s great for Lydd when that happens.

“When one of the models came down earlier this year all the blokes were waiting to see her!”

The town is regularly filled to bursting when Dungeness B’s reactor is shut down for maintenance as all the contractors have to be brought in, and it was Mittells’ good fortune it happened to be this week.

And yes, it was a scorcher.
