A stable of supercars has set off on a charity drive from Broome Park to Monte Carlo.

Among 26 vehicles in the pedigree line-up are the Ferrari of Tim Deakin, former boss of Canterbury outfitters Deakin’s, and an Aston Martin driven by Jerry Copestake, landlord of the Griffin’s Head pub at Chillenden.

They will arrive in the millionaire’s paradise on Saturday and are hoping to raise up to £35,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Organiser Alex Hamilton, 17, from Monks Horton, near Hythe, said: “I’ve been planning this since last December and the response has been good.

“It came from being in Monaco last year for the 'Monty’ event and I thought why not do something similar for a good cause.

“A friend of mine lost his brother to cancer four years ago and this is only our first year so hopefully we can raise as much as possible.”

Kent College pupil Alex added: “I’m driving my dad’s Audi RS4 and we’ve given everyone a full set of terms and conditions. We won’t be speeding down there!”

The event has had £15,000 in sponsorship from local businesses.
