POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a young moped rider was killed in a crash with a lorry on the A2 near Dartford.

The young man was pronounced dead on arrival at Darent Valley Hospital. The accident happened yesterday at the Bluewater/Bean turn off just on the London-bound carriageway. The victim has not yet been named.

A police spokesman said: "Our investigation is ongoing and we are appealing for witnesses." The number to call is 01622 608153.

The coroner's office has been notified and an inquest will be opened later this week.

The lorry driver received only minor injuries and was taken to Darent Valley Hospital for treatment.
