Thousands of toys have been collected for children in need this Christmas as part of kmfm’s Give A Gift.
The campaign, supported by Hendy Vauxhall and Peugeot Tonbridge, brought together individuals, families, and businesses to make the festive season magical for youngsters facing tough times.
This year’s appeal received an extraordinary response, with more than 16,200 toys collected and distributed.
The kmfm office doorbell rang non-stop as listeners arrived with donations, and local businesses and organisations, including Biffa, Big Jig Toys, CPI Books and Paddock Wood Ambulance Station, contributed substantial donations.
A JustGiving page was set up with an initial goal of £3,000 – which ended up reaching £12,659.
And kmfm had extra help from the manager of Smyths Toys in Gillingham, Lee Jeray, where £10,000 was spent on the most in-demand toys.
The shop added an extra £1,000 to the total which meant even more gifts could be purchased.
The remaining funds were used to order special gifts for older children and teenagers.
Last week, kmfm’s team of Christmas elves delivered toys to 18 different locations, including hospitals, care facilities, and charities. Deliveries to two additional locations are planned this week.

Rob Wills, kmfm programme controller, said: “The generosity of our listeners and local businesses has completely blown us away.
“Together, we’ve made a tangible difference to children who need it most, ensuring they feel the magic of Christmas.
“From everyone at kmfm and Hendy, thank you for your incredible kindness and support.”
