Mother-to-be in crash drama

A PREGNANT driver had to be cut free from her car today after it rolled off the road and into a ditch at Brenzett near Ashford.

Her red Kia Sedona came off the A2070 just before 1pm and the 20-year-old was trapped. Fire crews from Ashford, Lydd and New Romney were called, together with paramedics, police and Kent Air Ambulance which initially landed in a nearby field, but began to sink into the sodden ground.

The road was then closed while it moved and came down on the bypass.

The casualty, who was complaining of neck and leg pain, was released and flown to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford in less than five minutes. She was treated for minor injuries.

Crews left the accident scene just after 2pm. There were no other vehicles involved in the incident.
