KENT Police are appealing for information following an unprovoked assault on two brothers in an alleyway. One was the victims was head-butted and suffered serious injuries.
The incident occurred behind Beacon Road, Chatham, at around 8.30pm on Wednesday, September 26.
One of the brothers, aged 14, was sitting on some steps with a friend when three males approached them.
The trio began talking to the boy and asked him for drugs. When he explained he did not take drugs, one of the males punched him.
Shortly afterwards the boy's 16-year-old brother came round the corner, saw the commotion and asked what was going on.
He was head-butted and lost two of his front teeth. It is thought he will require dental treatment for up to eight months. The 14-year-old did not suffer any injuries other than reddening to his cheek.
The boys' mother, who does not wished to be named, said: "It is so upsetting. As a parent you want to protect your children and it makes me feel sick to my stomach that this has happened. I have brought my boys up correctly and it is not fair that they have been attacked.
"I want people to contact the police with information so they can prevent this from happening to anyone else."
The first suspect is described as being a white male, aged around 18-years-old, around 5ft 9in tall and of stocky build. He had mousey-cropped hair and was wearing a white, long-sleeved jacket, a red collard polo shirt, blue jeans and white trainers.
A second male is said to be white, aged around 16, about 5ft 8in tall with ginger, shoulder length hair. He had a freckled complexion and was wearing a plain grey hooded top, baggy grey tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.
Police are also keen to trace another boy who is described as being white, aged around 15, about 5ft 7in tall, of slim build with short, black hair. He was wearing a black hooded top with ‘slipknot’ written on it, plain light blue jeans and black ‘Converse’ trainers.
Police spokesman Roger Golding said: "This appears to be a seemingly unprovoked assault on two teenage brothers which has left one in need of long term treatment.
"Obviously this has caused a great deal of distress for both the boys and their family and we are keen to arrest those responsible for inflicting these painful injuries. All calls to us will be fully investigated and treated in the strictest confidence."
