A MOTHER’S anxious wait for news of her missing daughter ended when 15-year-old Stacie Haynes was returned home.
Stacie, who had vanished eight days earlier, was brought back by Kent Police.
Speaking at her home in Princess Anne Road, Broadstairs, her mother Caroline said: "I’m so relieved. I ran into her arms and cried tears of joy."
Photographs of Stacie were displayed across Thanet on a series of posters put up by her family and friends. She was finally tracked down to Sheerness where she had gone with her boyfriend.
Back home, she was being comforted by her family and friend Denham Jordan-Dancer.
She was found when she got a text asking her to call the police, which she did from a Sheppey call box.
Stacie said: “They kept me talking on the phone for an hour. I just want to thank the police, all my friends and everyone who helped.”
Asked if she was surprised with the level of interest in her disappearance, including news featuring on the radio and local press, she added: “It was a bit of a surprise.”
Her mother added: “A lot of worried people have phoned me and the police have been such a help. I’m so relieved she is home.”
