ROBBERS stole thousands of pounds from East Peckham post office on Saturday morning, scattering banknotes as they fled on a motorbike.
They struck less than 24 hours after the regular postmaster had left on honeymoon, leaving a colleague from Hadlow in charge.
At about 11.40am the robbers, both black and both in their early 20s, entered the shop in The Pound, threatened the man and demanded cash.
Anne McCarthy, of West Kent police, said: "No weapon was seen, but as the subpostmaster tried to resist he was knocked to the floor and suffered minor injuries.
"The robbers kicked open a security door and took an amount of cash, running into thousands, from the safe.
"They then ran from the shop and raced off on a motorcycle in the direction of Maidstone. They dropped some of the money as they went."
The incident was over in minutes, but police are keen to talk to anyone who may have seen what happened or who saw two men on a motorcycle in the East Peckham area on Saturday.
One of the robbers was of medium build, with cropped hair and facial hair around his mouth. He was wearing a dark coloured, hooded top and black trousers.
His companion was dressed in a grey hooded top and trousers.
