A motorcyclist is fighting for his life after being found lying on a Tonbridge road early yesterday morning.

The man was seen injured just before 6am on London Road, Tonbridge, near the junction with Courtlands.

It's thought he was in a crash while riding his Honda bike towards Tonbridge.

Passers-by stopped to help and police and ambulance were called. The rider was taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital where he's in a critical condition.

Det Sgt Bishop, senior investigating officer, has appealed for witnesses.

He said: "We would welcome any information that may shed light on how this collision occurred.

"We are particularly interested in speaking with a man who was driving a white Transit-sized van, who initially stopped and assisted the injured rider and subsequently left the scene prior to police arrival.

"He may have vital information that will assist us in this investigation".

Anyone with information can contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Kent Police on 01622 798538.
