A motorist had to be cut out of his car after a rush hour crash.
The accident happened at around 8.30am on the Hoath Way roundabout at the junction with the M2 in Gillingham. It involved two cars, a Volkswagen and a Rover.
The driver of the Rover, a man in his 40s, had suspected spinal injuries. Fire-fighters used hydraulic cutting gear to cut the roof off the car so the man could be removed from the vehicle safely and moved onto a spinal board. Two fire crews from Medway fire station were at the scene on Wednesday morning, along with police and paramedics.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said: “The man was complaining of pins and needles in his extremities and neck pain which indicates the possibility of spinal injuries. It took us around half an hour to cut off the roof and get the driver out.”
The man was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital but his injuries were not thought to be life threatening. The male driver in the other car was not injured in the crash.
