A TEENAGE girl is recovering from shock after a man tried to persuade her to get into his car as she made her way to work.
The 18-year-old was walking along Grange Road in Gillingham when the man pulled up alongside her in a silver Ford and offered her a lift.
She refused and continued walking towards the railway station but the man turned his car around and followed her.
The driver, who is believed to be in his 20s, again tried to persuade her to get into the car before the girl ran off towards the station.
The teenager, who has not been named but comes from Gillingham, arrived at work shaken and shocked.
The man is described as black with shaved hair and was spotted parked on the corner of Portland Road, Gillingham, just before the incident at 9.20am on Wednesday, April 12. He drove off in the direction of the cemetery in Grange Road.
A spokesman for Medway Police said: “We have circulated a description of the man to all of our patrolling officers.”
It is believed the man may have thought the girl was much younger than 18 and could be targeting teenagers.
