How about moving down to the seaside - for good, not just the summer? Kent's coastal towns are looking up, and the Chesterton Humberts Canterbury office has houses on offer from Ramsgate round to Hythe.

In Effingham Street, Ramsgate, is a beautifully proportioned Georgian house on five floors with a very secluded garden.

The town, one of the famous Cinque Ports, is particularly popular with its developing harbour, marina and shops.

The enhanced rail service from Ramsgate via Canterbury West to Ashford International and St Pancras has opened the town to London buyers, who only need to commute part of the week. The guide price is £425,000.

Golden Hours in Wellington Parade, Walmer, is a beautifully situated seafront home redesigned and fitted to a high standard, taking full advantage of its location beside the beach with marvellous Channel views. Golden Hours is positioned between Walmer Castle and the quaint fishing village of Kingsdown. The guide price is £520,000.

Harbourside in Wear Bay Road, Folkestone, is on sale for £600,000 and comprises two substantial Victorian properties, with 10 bedrooms, with panoramic sea views.

In Hythe, Chesterton Humberts are marketing Westview, a fine Edwardian detached house on three floors in one of the most sought-after residential roads within the town. There is a guide price of £795,000 and, again, fantastic views.

Four Winds Court at West Parade, Hythe, is a distinctive and stylish small residential development of three town houses and one maisonette, all overlooking the beach and the Channel. Prices from £310,000 to £485,000.
