TRANSPORT minister Stephen Ladyman is in the hot seat when he appears on the Top Gear motoring programme this Sunday.

The South Thanet MP is under the spotlight in the Star In The Car section where he is judged on his skill behind the wheel and is then marked for a place on the programme’s celebrity leader board.

Dr Ladyman said: "Jeremy Clarkson and the team have been saying they should get me on the programme for some time because I am transport minister. They have also had a pop at my surname but it is all good-natured banter.

"I am due to film my segment on the track at Guildford on Wednesday and it will be fun to see how I do. It is due to be screened this Sunday."
