DAVID Cameron has suspended a Conservative MP who overpaid his son.
The Tory leader said he had taken the decision to remove the whip from Derek Conway MP for Old Bexley and Sidcup after a decision from the Standards and Privileges committee found he had overpaid his son.
It means the 55-year-old will not be allowed to sit in the Conservative bench in Parliament until his membership is restored.
The news comes as Liberal Democrat politician Duncan Borrowman calls for a police investigation into the payments made to the MP's younger son Freddie.
In addition, according to the BBC, he may now have to face a further inquiry into payments to his elder son, Henry, after Labour MP John Mann said he would be registering a formal complaint about similar work carried out by Henry from March 2003, before Freddie took on the role.
The House of Commons are yet to decide on recommendations of the committee that would see Mr Conway suspended from Parliament for 10 days and have to pay back up to £7,000.
Mr Conway told the Standards and Privileges Committee his elder son assisted with computer work, but the committee could not look into it because it was not part of the original complaint.
Yesterday, he apologised to Parliament for his conduct. He said: "I unreservedly apologise to the House for my administrative shortcomings and the misjudgements I made."
