A multi-million pound project to almost rebuild St George’s Church of England Foundation School is under way.

The project is part of the government’s Building Schools for the Future programme.

A high-tech purpose-built campus will be developed on the current site at Westwood Road, Broadstairs, expanding the school's acclaimed innovative teaching and learning, community and business links.

Principal Keith Rumblo is excited about the prospects.

He said: "The facilities planned for the campus are fabulous and will make the school a model for 21st century education."

The footings are now being dug for the sports hall which is the first part of the new campus that it is anticipated will completed by April 2010.

Landscaping, car parking and the demolition of the old buildings should be completed as the final part of the BSF scheme by September 2010
