Murder bid charge over train woman

A 39-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was allegedly pushed in front of a Gillingham train.

British Transport Police were called to Woolwich Arsenal overland station at 9.10pm on Friday night after reports that a woman had been struck by the 8.14pm Gillingham to Charing Cross service.

The 24-year-old woman was taken to hospital with a broken collar bone and facial injuries.

The man surrendered himself to police on Friday night. He is due to appear before City of Westminster magistrates today.

Police would appeal to anyone who was at the station at the time of the incident to contact 0800 40 50 40.
