Murder suspect appears in dock

A 37-year-old man appeared in court today accused of murdering Marco Schiroli, from Rochester, outside a public house on New Year's Eve.

Mr Schiroli, 29, of Copperfield Road, Rochester, was stabbed to death during an incident outside The Vineyard pub in Rochester's Maidstone Road.

Today Paul Melvin John Brown appeared before Medway magistrates in Chatham and was remanded in custody. There was no application for bail.

Mr Brown spoke only to confirm his name and that he was of no fixed home. His next appearance will be at a preliminary hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, July 11.

Mr Brown was arrested on the Costa Del Sol in Spain last month and later extridited to Britain.
