PIE Factory Music in Ramsgate is appealing for votes from the public to reach the finals of the National Lottery Awards 2006.

The organisation has been chosen from hundreds of lottery-funded projects for the south-east final of the awards.

PFM is one of four finalists chosen by a panel of judges to go head to head in a public vote for the title of South East National Lottery Project of The Year.

The finalist with the most public votes will go forward to the UK final which will be broadcast on TV.

Representatives from the winning south-east project will attend the UK awards ceremony where the overall winners will be announced.

PFM has filled more than 35,000 music workshop spaces in east Kent since it was founded five years ago.

It was formed as the Thanet branch of the Youth Music Action Zone project, to encourage youngsters to get involved in music.

Arts Council England’s £1m of lottery funding enables PFM to provide rehearsal rooms and a studio where young people can try equipment.

They can work with professional DJs, musicians, songwriters and producers. Steel and African drumming, singing, brass, strings, rock school and early years workshops are among those PFM stages.

Participants can hone their skills in live performances, music productions and film, boosting their self-esteem.
