Pedestrians had a lucky escape when a heavy drain cover was blown into the air in a Kent town centre.

The footage above shows the aftermath of the mystery explosion, which happened outside the Woolworth's store in Biggin Street, Dover on Friday.

Black smoke poured out of the drain after the blast.

Police cordoned off the area while engineers were called in to try and determine the cause.
