ARMED police were called to the Senacre area of Maidstone after shots were fired outside a house in Goodwin Close, less than a mile from county police headquarters. Firearms officers were at the scene within 10 minutes of the two shots being reported at 11.30pm on Tuesday night.

The area was searched without success. No-one was hurt. Police spokeswoman Gianna Pollero said: "Obviously any incident involving firearms is very concerning and we are appealing for witnesses and anyone else with information to come forward."

In particular, officers are keen to trace the driver of a white, H-registration Citroen car seen in the area at the time. Anyone with information should contact Det Sgt Ian Rogerson on 01622 608182.
