VICTIM Roy Cronin is desperate for justice following the horrendous New Year incident which nearly killed him and has drastically changed his life.
The St Peter’s man, just out of hospital, is urging the public to help as detectives reveal crucial fresh information and renew their appeal.
Royal Navy physical trainer Mr Cronin, 25, was found lying with horrific injuries in St Peter’s Park Road by the junction with Crawford Road early on New Year’s Day.
His uncle Mark Stent, 34, from Ramsgate, was lying on the pavement nearby with a head injury. Neither man can remember anything about what happened.
Mr Cronin said: "The last I remember is walking up Broadstairs High Street and the next waking up in Kings Hospital 14 days later in an awful lot of pain.
"I want the police to be able to make a prosecution more than anything."
A four-minute call was made by Mr Cronin’s mobile phone to that of his fiance Nikki Reynolds, 26, and recorded significant details.
Det Sgt Richard Vickery said the police believed there were two separate incidents - the assault and robbery and the road accident.
They have released the call transcipt and CCTV footage to aid the investigation.
Mr Cronin has had to have his spleen completely removed. He suffered a torn pancreas, two broken ribs, head injury, fractured arm and collapsed lung. He has lost two stone and remains in extreme discomfort and often severe pain.
Mr Vickery said: "Somebody, somewhere will know what happened, word will have got around.
"It might be that the driver of the vehicle that hit Mr Cronin saw a fight going on and did not want to stop, they may not even have known they had hit a person."
Police particularly want to trace the drivers of a silver saloon car, possibly a Rover 75 and a white hatchback car, that passed through the garage and travelled along St Peters Park Road.
They are also keen to find Mr Cronin’s stolen Nokia mobile.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Mr Vickery on 01843 222291 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
