Mystery surrounds driver in head-on crash

POLICE are concerned for the safety of a motorist who failed to stop after crashing into two cars in Ramsgate on Monday night. A light-coloured car travelling on Canterbury Road West towards Ramsgate collided head-on with a Renault Clio travelling in the other direction.

The Clio was knocked off the road, and the driver suffered minor injuries. The oncoming car failed to stop and then collided with a Nissan Bluebird, travelling towards Canterbury, before heading off towards the Lord of the Manor roundabout.

Both cars sustained serious damage. One driver was taken to the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate with minor injuries.

A police spokeswoman said: “In light of the amount of damage caused to the other two cars, it is quite likely the driver was in someway injured in this accident. We would urge them to come forward and seek medical help, just as a precaution.”

Police are still unsure of how the accident occurred, and are appealing for anyone who saw it to contact PC Richard Lee on 01843 222124.

The spokeswoman said: “The car we are looking for is likely to be badly damaged.

If anyone knows where it went after leaving Canterbury Road West, or where it is now, could they also please get in touch.”
