The Gurkha Justice campaign was taken to Cranbrook last summer when an unknown woman suggested enlisting Joanna Lumley's help
The success of a campaign to allow all retired Gurkhas to stay in the UK could be all down to a mystery woman from Cranbrook.
Actress Joanna Lumley helped raise the profile of the campaign after she was approached by Peter Carroll, who runs a haulage business from Larkfield.
He has supported the Gurkha cause since 2004 and contacted Miss Lumley after a woman at an event in Cranbrook on August 16 last year suggested he get in touch with the actress.
Mr Carroll, who is Lib-Dem prospective Parliamentary candidate for Maidstone and the Weald, said: "If she hadn't mentioned Joanna maybe I'd never have got her involved and this whole campaign might have had a different outcome. I'd really like to meet up with the lady in Cranbrook. I am sure if we could find her, Joanna would love to send her a note."
