Narrow boat ravaged by blaze on River Medway at Allington

A narrow boat on the River Medway has been ravaged in a fire overnight.

Around 30 firefighters tackled the blaze on the 60ft boat, moored at Allington in Maidstone.

The fire broke out at just before 5pm yesterday.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said five crews, a water unit, inflatable boat and command support unit spent more than an hour tackling the flames.

Crews continued to dampen down until around 7pm.

The boat has been severely damaged by the fire.
