A young Islander is following in her older sister’s dance steps by picking up a national championship for baton twirling.
Six-year-old Jade Lindsell from Swale Avenue, Rushenden, picked up first place for her dance twirl at the British Baton Twirling Sports Association National Championships.
Jade also came second for her basic strut and second for her poise and personality in her age group at the championships held in Portsmouth at a three day event over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
Jade is taking after her sister Abbie with all her success.
Eleven-year-old Abbie has previously picked up three titles in one year.
Abbie also got through to the finals this year and came fifth in solo, sixth for poise and personality, sixth in fancy strut and ninth in basic strut in her age group.
Jade and Abbie’s mother, Lisa Lindsell, said: “It’s Jade’s first year getting through to the finals.
"They were up against lots of people from all over the country.
"I feel very proud of them and I cried my eyes out.
"They love it, but it’s nail biting waiting to find out the winners.”
