POLICE are appealing for witnesses following several acts of vandalism in the Hookmeadow area of Walderslade in Chatham.
Vandals attacked St Phillip and St. James’ Church in King George Road between Sunday pril 1 and Tuesday, April 3, throwing rocks and smashing letters on the church sign.
On the morning of Saturday, April 7, a stone was also thrown through a window of Walderslade library in King George Road. Shortly after 9pm the same day a rock was thrown through the upstairs bedroom window of a house nearby.
The Hookmeadow Community Centre was also targeted over the Easter Bank holiday weekend. A rock was thrown through a window between Thursday April 5 and Tuesday April 10.
Mark Pearson, Kent Police’s neighbourhood police officer for Walderslade, said: “We are working with Medway council and the local community to combat the history of anti-social behaviour this area has experienced, and are asking people to come forward and help us put a stop to this type unacceptable criminal damage.”
