Folkestone Invicta will do all they can to keep their survival bid alive on Saturday, according to manager Neil Cugley.

Invicta, who are bottom of the Ryman League Premier Division, could be relegated if results go against them this weekend but Cugley still holds faint hopes of avoiding the drop.

The seasiders are eight points adrift of safety with four games remaining.

If they fail to win at promotion-chasing Kingstonian on Saturday and Horsham beat Hendon, then Folkestone will suffer their second relegation from the Ryman Premier inside four seasons.

Cugley said: "We have just got to keep going. We knew it was going to be a difficult season for us from day one.

"We have to keep plugging away but have to be realistic. It is going to be difficult to win all of our last four games but we will do all we can to try and stay up until it is over.

"I asked the players to continue to show commitment and that is all we can do."

Invicta extended their winless run to nine games last Saturday after their 2-0 defeat at Harrow Borough.

While his side have struggled for results in recent weeks – with their last victory a 4-0 win against fellow relegation rivals Maidstone United on March 1 – the Folkestone manager has praised the effort shown by his small squad.

"We will probably look back on the season with a bit of frustration as there have only been two games where we have been poor," Cugley added.

"We haven’t been far away throughout the season and I don’t think the players could have given anymore effort."

Cugley should have a fully-fit squad to choose from for Saturday’s clash at Kingsmeadow.
