A mobile cat neutering clinic run by the RSPCA will be in Thanet next week.

Its arrival is an effort to staunch the flood of unwanted cats and kittens that inundate animal charities on the Isle.

Owners on income support or benefits can pay the reduced rate of £20 to neuter a female or £15 for a male.

Cats can be neutered from four months upwards. Microchipping will also be available.

The clinic will be at the Dane Valley Arms, Dane Valley Road, Margate, on Monday and Tuesday and the Flowing Bowl, Newington centre, Ramsgate, on Wednesday and Thursday.

The mobile clinic neutered 60 of Thanet’s cats in April, this year.

Andrew Kirby, manager of the RSPCA’s East Kent Animal Centre at Woodchurch, said: “Thanet has a large problem with stray and unwanted cats and its’ cat welfare organisations are constantly full.

“There are simply not enough homes for all the kittens born each year.

"Neutering is the best way to prevent unwanted litters and to help reduce the spread of feline diseases.”

Places must be booked and are still available - call 01843 826180.
