Six months after a grandmother was killed as she crossed a pedestrian crossing, police have returned to the scene in a bid to find her killer.

Shirley Leedham, 70, was knocked down as she crossed the A20 in Harrietsham on the morning of October 9, 2008.

The driver who hit her fled the scene sparking a massive police investigation.

Six months the driver has still not been found.

Now police have returned to the scene to carry out further road checks to try and jog the memory of someone who may have witnessed something important.

Just before Christmas officers launched a fresh appeal to try and trace the driver of a blue Toyota 4x4, which was seen in the area at the time of the collision, but no new information came forward.

At the time Sgt Guy Ditcher, leading the investigation, said : "A woman has contacted police after seeing the appeal on TV and said she was driving along the A20 from Leeds towards Harrietsham on that Thursday, October 9, at around 8.35am.

"As she came off the roundabout, a dark blue Toyota 4x4, with 53 in the registration number, overtook her. It was being driven by a white man with dark hair. We would greatly like to hear from this driver as he might have witnessed the RTC. There is no suggestion that he was involved in any way."
