The new engine will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and goes on sale in the UK in October. Prices will be confirmed after the Frankfurt show.
The new engine shares some of its parts with the 167bhp 1.6-litre petrol already offered in the Cascada. However, the 197bhp version has new pistons that Vauxhall says makes the engine more refined and smoother.
Due to the latest 1.6 turbo’s power, Cascada models with this engine will also come with Vauxhall’s HiPerStrut (High Performance Strut) to make sure the power is sent to the wheels without losing grip.
A six-speed manual gearbox will be standard with the 197bhp 1.6-litre SIDI turbo engine and Vauxhall will announce economy and emissions figures at the Frankfurt motor show.
