The hunt for new faces at Gillingham is ongoing but boss Martin Allen isn’t prepared to splash the cash recklessly.
He said: "I have chatted to a lot of agents and clubs and a lot of potential signings but they have to be better than what we’ve got.
"We are not just going to go out and get people for the sake of it. It has to be done for the right reasons and not just chucking money away.
"You have to remember, we have good players here anyway, so it is a fine line."
During Saturday’s meeting of shareholders, club chairman Paul Scally admitted there was interest in former Gills striker Cody McDonald who is available for loan at current club Coventry.
Allen (pictured) was keeping his transfer targets to himself.
He said: "I don’t ever want to speculate about potential signings. If we sign someone, we sign them and then that’s the time I will talk about them."
