To SE or not to SE, that is the question for Mercedes-Benz customers following an extensive re-working of the popular C-Class range.
The revamped line-up features Special Equipment models - adding the most popular optional upgrades as standard - and non-SE versions, which turn back the clock to prices not seen since 1997.
The newly-priced C180 Classic Saloon and Estate, with the removal of automatic climate control as standard, have both been reduced by £1,145, making them a mere £10 more than the last generation cost five years ago.
However, the non-SE range retains a high level of standard equipment, including four electric windows, multi-function steering wheel, electric seats, remote central locking, electric heated mirrors, alarm and immobiliser.
The Classic SE line retains climate control but also features alloy wheels, CD player, automatic transmission with cruise control and leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear lever - worth £1,500 - for only £500 more than the previous price. There are also significant savings and SE packages on the C-Class Elegance and Avantgarde trims.
