THE new Polo has been released for retail ordering. It is officially launched in the UK on February 8. Although prices will be announced nearer to its launch, customers are able to reserve or specify their vehicles, ready for delivery in February.

Five engine choices are available, two petrol and three diesel units. Petrol units are a 1.2-litre 65bhp three cylinder 12 valve unit or the familiar 1.4-litre 75bhp four cylinder 16 valve currently available in Polo, Golf and Lupo.

Diesel ranges from a 1.9-litre 64bhp SDI, through the award-winning 1.4-litre 75bhp three cylinder TDI PD to the range-topping 1.9-litre TDI PD with 100bhp, recently introduced into the Golf and Bora ranges.

An equal number of trim options is offered at launch. The 16V and GTI specs have been removed, leaving E, S, S A/C, SE and Sport.
