Whitstable Town manager Justin Luchford is set to hand a debut to new signing Jake Beecroft for Saturday’s home game against Walton Casuals.

The midfielder, signed from Blue Square Bet South side Tonbridge Angels, has been brought in as cover for Dale Skelton who faces a long lay-off after it was confirmed he needs an operation on damaged knee ligaments.

The former Hythe Town and Faversham man was injured against Godalming last week and boss Justin Luchford said: "He could be out until at least October and the club will give him all the support he needs. He wants to get back because he has enjoyed his time with us and says it has given him a new lease of life."

Luchford (pictured) has moved to sign Beecroft, 20, from Tonbridge and he is expected to go straight into the squad for this weekend’s game.

He said: "Tommy Warrilow (Tonbridge manager) needed to balance the books after signing Ollie Schulz from Dover and I spoke to him about Jake.

"He can play in midfield or at full-back and has made 20 appearances this season."

Meanwhile Luchford says striker Damian Abel has gone to Folkestone Invicta with his blessing.

And, the Town boss isn’t ruling out a return in the future. He said: "The door is always open to Damian if I am the manager."
