Nicky Bailey celebrates his goal for Charlton against Wycombe Picture: Barry Goodwin
Charlton 3 Wycombe 2
Charlton started life in League 1 with victory over Wycombe on Saturday.
Two goals midway through the first half from Christian Dailly and Nicky Bailey put Phil Parkinson’s side in a commanding position.
Chris Zebroski pulled goal back for Wycombe, before Miguel Llera struck for the home side in the second half.
Wycombe netted again through Zebroski’s second of the afternoon, but it was not enough.
The Addicks gave debut to all three of their summer signings as Frazer Richardson slotted in at right-back alongside the new central defensive partnership of Llera and Dailly.
Dailly broke the deadlock when he rose to head home a Jonjo Shelvey corner on after 20 minutes.
The Addicks then doubled their advantage two minutes later when Lloyd Sam cut the ball back to Bailey who fired it home.
But four minutes before the break, Charlton found their lead reduced when Zebroski made no mistake when he was allowed to have a free header.
Llera restored the Addicks’ two goal cushion when he scored from close range after 49 minutes minutes.
Although Wycombe got a second through Zebroski after 72 minutes, the home side were able to hold on to take maximum points.
