The kmfm Breakfast Show kicked off with a familiar pair of presenters this morning following the departure at Christmas of its long-time hosts.
Rob Wills and Numi Gildert marked their first morning with listeners.
Garry Wilson and Chelsea Little hosted their final show on Christmas Eve.
On Saturday (January 4), kmfm revealed on social media that Rob and Numi would be filling their shoes.
Ben Pearce has also taken over their former slot, Getting You Home from 4pm.
The duo are raring to go and will be waking people up with Kent’s biggest hits from 6.30am, Monday to Friday.
It will have all the staples that listeners love and more, including school-run shout-outs, the Motivational Mix and everyone’s favourite game Say it – where you could win £1,000.
Both presenters were worried they were going to sleep in and set multiple alarms this morning.
Numi said: “I woke up at about 4.45am because I wanted to do a full face of makeup for my first day.”
“Same...but without the makeup,” Rob joked.
The 38-year-old added: “I’m returning to the Breakfast Show after 11 years.
“I had the complete fear that I was going to sleep through my alarm clock after not having to worry about it for more than a decade.
“I did set up a few backups just in case – which woke my wife up whilst I was in the shower.”
kmfm, which is one of the only local radio stations dedicated to broadcasting to its region with shows made in the area, has 187,000 listeners tuning in every week.
“The Breakfast Show is what everybody aspires to do in this career,” Rob explained.
“For me, there’s always a bit of pressure that comes with it because you’re there at the start of people’s day.
“But as soon as you hit the opening jingle and crack on, you forget your worries.”
“I'm really happy that we have this challenge and it's a massive responsibility. I'm excited to take that on.”
Numi joined in April 2021, starting on the Kent Top 40 and then moved over to the Hit List in January 2022.
The 30-year-old said: “I’ve had so much fun presenting with Rob on Getting You Home for the past eight months. Every day we die with laughter.
“I’m really happy that we have this challenge and it’s a massive responsibility. I’m excited to take that on.”
