Plans to scrap doctors' boundaries so that we can see any GP of our choice are being welcomed by some patients in Kent.

The idea is part of the Health Secretary's big plan for the NHS to make it easier for parents and commuters to see a doctor.

By not being restricted to their local practice, it should make it easier and more flexible.

The Goverment already got many doctors' surgeries to open for longer and soon people will be allowed to pick a surgery anywhere.

Clare Stokes from Herne Bay contacted Kent Online's sister radio station kmfm to comment on the idea. She said she would be delighted because she has to take time off work at the moment if she needs to see her doctor.

Doctors says there is broad support for the idea, but many have concerns about how complex it will be for GPs to tie up with agencies such as social services and other health providers which may not be local.

There are also worries that more popular practices will be inundated with patients.

It could also be a potentially expensive idea, and the NHS is in the process of trying to make savings of around £20 billion by 2014.
