Player-manager Nicky Forster could make his first start for Dover at Blue Square Bet South title favourites Eastleigh on Saturday (3pm).

Forster made an impact as a second-half substitute in the goalless draw against Eastbourne Borough on Bank Holiday Monday.

So he’s got some thinking to do ahead of what should be Whites’ toughest test of the season so far.

Forster (pictured) said: “I give us a different option and if I decide it’s beneficial, then I’ve no problems with starting.

“I’ve done all the physical work in training and if I’m performing well, it would be silly not to play.”

Eastleigh lost their opening match but two wins and a draw have pushed them up to fourth in the fledgling league table with seven points, one more than unbeaten Dover.

The visitors will be without striker Terry Dixon, who is waiting on the results of a scan on his groin.

Forster said: “Everyone’s been going on about Eastleigh’s budget and how much money they’ve been spending.

“They’re favourites and will be looking for a return on their investment but it’s not all about money.”

Ricky Modeste made his first start of the season against Eastbourne after serving a three-game ban.

Forster was impressed with the winger, who could line up against former club Chelmsford at Crabble on Tuesday (7.45pm).

The manager said: “He’s a huge threat and causes defences all sorts of problems."
