A serial sex attacker responsible for rapes and assaults on elderly women is believed to have struck again.

The so-called Night Stalker, who has preyed on elderly victims since the early 1990s, is thought to have broken into three homes in the last month.

Scotland Yard is investigating whether the man burgled homes in Downham, Bromley; Lee, near Erith, and Norwood, London between May 11 and June 4.

Operation Minstead, investigating the string of crimes, is the Yard's biggest ever hunt for a serial rapist.

Officers dub the Stalker Britain's most wanted man.

They believe he is responsible for close to 100 burglaries, and has been linked to four rapes and indecent assaults.

He has attacked twice in Sidcup, and Orpington is one of three suburbs particularly targeted, with at least five strikes there.

It now emerges at least three new attacks are being linked to him - the latest being in Lee, at 2am on Wednesday.

He is believed to have a fixation for the elderly, with many of his victims aged between the late 'sixties and 93.

The suspect is believed to be of Caribbean origin, probably in his late 30s, 5ft 10in to 6ft 2in, of athletic build and is well-spoken.
